About the Book......
The Moral State of Black America is a cultural critique and a call for Blacks to return to their roots of spiritual salvation found in Jesus Christ.  A variety of sources including empirical data, news reports, and the voices of prominent Blacks, illustrate the need for this return.  The book also discusses who is to blame for the moral decline among African Americans,  the risk with maintaining the status quo, and, most importantly, what specific solutions to improve the moral state of Black America.

                                To the Critics.........

First and foremost, I challenge anyone to disprove any of the statistics presented in this book.  Secondly, I challenge any critic to answer these two questions: How would you describe the moral condition of Black America as a whole and what can be done to improve it?  Most critics, before ever turning a page, will out of pride, attack such analysis outright.  Others, in an effort to maintain the status quo, which probably benefits them in some way, will attempt to label me, and this work, as a politically motivated Conservative diatribe.  This standard operating procedure will be nothing more than a diversion to avoid discussing the book’s thesis.  The question of whose interest are they representing must be asked of any critic, especially clergy.  It is only in the interest of Satan that anyone would deny and oppose a collective call to spiritual purity.  Chances are, those who attack this work most vociferously are not called by God to be shepherds and should be viewed as suspect.  The author will be happy to acknowledge any criticism regarding his clumsy use of the English language and limited writing ability.

                                  Rodrick Burton is
a typical Generation Xer who has     experienced a wide variety of church, work, and social settings during his thirty-seven years.  It was not until his incarceration for attempted robbery that he began to analyze American culture and specifically, Black popular culture.  His studies crystallized during Liberal Arts training at Concordia University Wisconsin and through his current studies at Covenant Theological Seminary.  Compelled by the Spirit, he labored to compile an inventory of Black culture while drafting solutions that would affect not only Blacks, but the entire United States.  He gives full credit of this understanding to Jesus Christ, whose interest in expanding the kingdom of God are hampered by a collective poor witness, both Black and White.  It is the author’s greatest hope that this book will spur a discussion leading to this millennium’s first great awakening.
